About Us

…A warm welcome awaits you at Totara Lodge from your hosts Sue and John Hobden.

Born in the UK we emigrated to New Zealand in 1973 with our three small children, settling in Auckland where we stayed for thirty years.

After working and raising a family who are now grown up with children of their own, we decided that the time was right to make that lifestyle change and move to the country.

While visiting family in Northland we found a piece of land which fulfilled all our dreams and realising its potential we made the decision to buy it.
We both enjoy meeting and interacting with people so we built Totara Lodge so that we could host and entertain guests from New Zealand and overseas and share the kiwi experience with them.

We have travelled throughout New Zealand and have a good knowledge of the local area. We offer a high standard of personalised service and are committed to making your stay with us enjoyable.
